WoW! Sites

It is hard to select a WoW! artist site from the many great ones online.  These have caught our attention, for one reason or another.  Note: We get many suggestions and keep a list, so your suggested site may suddenly appear one month! Recommend a site by sending email to Gloria.

The Art of Susan Harrison-Tustain "New Zealand artist Susan Harrison-Tustain's highly sought after work will take you on an artistic journey. Her passion for painting and for natural beauty and light allows the viewers of her work to feel part of the world she has captured. A world so life-like you can 'smell' the perfume of the roses, see the light as it glistens through a dew-drop or feel the nostalgic atmosphere she has created in her still-life studies of much-loved, time-worn objet d'art."
RUTH STEINFATT  Wildwood Cottage is nestled on the side of a mountain on Vancouver Island, Canada. I invite you to stroll through the garden paths, rest awhile and go away refreshed.
Victoria Chiofalo Born in Bombay, India, and raised in Shanghai, in 1948 Victoria moved to Argentina where she studied fine art at the National Academy of Fine Arts. A San Francisco resident since 1963, she resumed her studies at San Francisco City College, as well as privately. Her paintings have won her many awards. Mostly self taught, she works in oils, watercolors, acrylics and pastels with the same verve and style.

Vincent D. Interrante Watercolor Painting: Delicate washes, vibrant color, glowing shadows, these are words often used to describe the incredible purity and beauty of a successful watercolor painting. Such paintings require a well planned strategy and adequate brush and water/pigment control. Sure strokes and clean washes are essential. The challenges of this media are considerable but the rewards far outweigh the labors.

Jane Freeman "Creation is personal, we do it for ourselves and if someone likes it, goodie. So that's my 2 cents for what it is worth. I would take technique if I had to choose because if I have that, as many of the greats had, then I can go anywhere with it. I now know what works and how to go to the edge and it still works. Thank God for diversity or it would be pretty boring!"  (quote from the ArtBoards at ArtCafe.net in a discussion of technique versus creativity)

Sally Robertson "I try to search out the most telling and revelatory aspects of my subjects, always pushing the limits of the descriptive power of watercolor. Although my work is characterized by a strong sense of realism, I have a reverence for the poetic quality of watercolor, and believe that watercolor applied wet into wet has a spontaneous life of its own and an exuberance that reflects nature most powerfully."

Denise Enslen - Watercolor Collage "Denise received many ribbons and awards. She recently decided to add another dimension to her watercolor painting by using different material such as pen and ink, gouache and "papier collé" (glued paper)."This artist has attended a few watercolor workshops, but is mostly self-taught. She has given a couple of workshops on this particular manner to work with collage. She hopes to be able to share that great joy of painting with others."

Mary Weinstein-Backer, "Bodacious Images"
"The arrangement of shapes, along with the organization of space and movement into a harmonious composition, rather than the subject matter itself, is the primary goal of my work."

Robin Weth Altman
"I enjoy painting scenes that have vivid colors, contrast and design."

Salvatore Ventura  "Ventura provides all the pleasures of a rigorous geometric abstraction tied to a subject matter that at bottom carries great emotional weight. And his watercolor medium rivets attention as a kind of tour de force." ~ William Zimmer, Contributing Critic New York Times August, 1992

Thomas Moore Watercolours Thomas Moore started painting at an early age and was fascinated by the way the light and dark shades affected the British landscape. The mood and atmosphere that was created by this was something that Thomas wanted to share with his fellow man, so he decided to capture his interpretations in watercolour and give others the chance to see the beauty of what was before him.

Connie Tunick  California artist with vibrant, textured paintings and a very well designed website. "My particular favorites are "October 14, 2000" (at left). This watermedia painting was done especially for our son's wedding invitation. The title reflects the date of the wedding.  I also am particularly found of "Monarchs", a watermedia collage. It has pieces torn from a previous painting, and I like the bold colors." ~ Connie Tunick

handprint watercolors About watercolors:  "...they create simple color and texture and light, wonderful shimmering light." Spend a delightful time at this fantastic site - and plan to return often to fully enjoy it. Definitely, an extra-special website!!!

Tony Luciani, OACA "My work has been called "realistic" and "traditional", yet I feel that it extends beyond the boundaries of these two labels. Perhaps "interpretive realism, traditionally inspired" may be a closer description."~ Tony Luciani
