"I
have been very lucky to live in Eastern Washington State, where the out
doors is a way of life. For the Artist it is a wonderland of everything,
water, mountains, forests, and cities. I find myself outside exploring
the wonders of nature for my artwork. " |

Ocean
Rocks is a collage of colors and shapes that I have seen at the ocean
and the beaches. I really like the play of lights and darks next to each
other and wanted to develop this technique throughout the painting.
I began
this watercolor by first using a warm wash as an under-painting. Then, I
painted the colors in a soft wet on wet technique, letting the paint
almost dry before adding another glaze. I built color and shape by
glazing with blues and purples. The
rocks were given the modeling by using tissue to remove color on the
sides, along with using a dry brush to remove color.
